1.6.1 – Primary Function and Scope:
This position consists of the use of established processes to plate, coat and treat metal items by
immersion in a series of chemical or electrolytic solutions. These processes include protective and
decorative plating of metal surfaces with metallic finishes such as copper, silver, nickel or gold.
Other processes include cleaning, degreasing, acid pickling……….. Other work includes
checking solution temperatures, the timing of parts in the solution, making routine settings according
to product specification just to name a few examples to ensure a satisfactory deposit or finish on
metal surfaces.
1.6.2 – Duties & Responsibilities:
Essential Functions
· Maintains a safe and environmentally correct working situation
· Incorporates good safety habits whether on the plating line or anywhere in the shop
· Wears protective OSHA regulated gear at all times while plating
· Executes the schedule to meet customer delivery requirements
· Executes and monitors the production process according to specification in the
· Executes a lean manufacturing process
o Daily assists in the maintaining of the 6S discipline

§ Straighten
§ Shine
§ Standardize
§ Sustain
§ Safety
o Visual control –Timer tracking – Performance metrics
o Waste elimination
o First time quality – Excess time – Material movement – Unnecessary process
· Ensures compliance to all applicable standards and regulations in the production
· Willing to work in other processes/methods as needed
· Ability to engage in the continuing process improvements and performance
· Visual inspection for de-wetting
1.6.3 – Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be
able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The individual must also be able to work in a
sometimes-stressful environment and continue to maintain a positive attitude towards peers and managers/supervisors. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill and or ability required
· Maintain parts routings
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand, bend, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, talk and hear, good vision abilities required for close vision and to adjust focus
· Basic computer skills required for Data Entry
· Maintains a clean and orderly work area
· Willing and able to work overtime including weekends when necessary
· Observe safety procedures including but not limited to wearing proper safety equipment such as eye protection……
· Abides by the given State, Federal and OSHA regulations
